Professional Biography
Co-author (with Wayne C. Booth, one of America's most distinguished humanists) of four editions of The Harper & Row Reader, now in its 23rd year in print, and The Harper & Row Rhetoric, Gregory is also co-author (with Ellie Chambers) of Teaching and Learning English Literature. [Books] Gregory’s nearly 60 articles on literary theory, liberal education, pedagogy, writing, and professional issues have appeared in such journals as Narrative, College English, The Chronicle of Higher Education, Liberal Education, Change Magazine, Arts and Humanities in Higher Education, Pedagogy, ADE Bulletin, CEA Critic, Style, Modern Language Studies, and others. [Articles.] Gregory was the national Director of the Lilly Endowment Post-Doctoral Teaching Awards Program at such universities as Brown University, Emory University, Indiana University, Northwestern University Rochester Institute of Technology, Syracuse University, University of Michigan, University of Pittsburgh, University of Wisconsin, and Yale University.
